Protect your attention

  • life

Recently I find harder and harder to have a focus time. Busy juggling with daily tasks leaving not much focus time.

Time is precious. But often we let time passes by when we are free.

Engery management

I used to be a night owl, I start to do real stuff after 10pm. Often it works out pretty well (in my uni days).

Now I have a fulltime job, it’s more unlikely to spend nights late.

Try to do these:

  • Save energy, even it costs sometimes. (example: taking taxi)
  • Prioritise important tasks at the time that you have most energy.

Be minimal

Be selective on what you do.

Be prepared

Plan before act. Pencil down sub-steps.

That saves your on-the-fly computational power.

Start small, let the momentum builds

It’s always easier to come back then to start a new task.

Don’t try to “focus” many things at a time

Finishing a task releases dopamine. Dragging a task for too long creates stress, you want to avoid this.
